Welcome to the web site of the Michigan Academic Library Council (MALC). MALC membership came together in 1999 in order "to enhance and promote the ability of each academic library to meet its mission by improving cooperation, resource sharing, and services." The organization includes the Library Deans, Directors, or Representatives of the

  • four-year public university libraries
    representative group is known as COLD - Council of Library Directors
  • four-year private university libraries
    representative group is known as DIAL-M; Deans/Directors of Independent Academic Libraries in Michigan
  • two-year community college libraries
    representative group is known as MCCL - Michigan Community College Libraries

Academic libraries make a significant contribution to patrons from their home institutions and to the general population by resource sharing, cooperative networking, and providing access to well-trained personnel when one is doing research. Please take a few moments to peruse the site and learn about the academic library communities' contributions and efforts for people in Michigan.
