MALC membership came together in 1999 in order "to enhance and promote the ability of each academic library to meet its mission by improving cooperation, resource sharing, and services." Academic libraries make a significant contribution to patrons from their home institutions and to the general population by resource sharing, cooperative networking, and providing access to well-trained personnel when one is doing research.
